4:30 to 6:00 PM, Center of Southwest Studies, Fort Lewis College
Join the Center of Southwest Studies for the opening of Coloradans and our Shared Environment in Times of Challenge and Change, an exhibition that highlights the deep connections Coloradans have with the state's natural landscape and, through it, with each other. The artwork included in the exhibition was produced by teams of artists and scientists grappling with the various ways Coloradans are experiencing the interrelated challenges of fire, drought, water, and air quality in their communities. The exhibition was organized by CU Boulder's Office for Outreach and Engagement in partnership with the Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research (INSTAAR) and the Boulder County Arts Alliance. APRIL 12: Fashion Reimagined (movie)
7 pm. 1259 Main Ave, Durango.
Join Sustainable Goods for a special Earth Day 2024 showing of the film "Fashion Reimagined." We're delighted to host a pre-screening Mocktail Happy Hour, plus a post conversation about the film and what it inspires. About the film: Amy Powney is the owner and founder of cult label Mother of Pearl and is a rising star in the London fashion scene. Raised off-the-grid in rural England by activist parents, Amy has always felt uneasy about the devastating environmental impact of her industry. When she wins the coveted Vogue award for the Best Young Designer of the Year, which comes with a big cash prize, Amy decides to use the money to create a sustainable collection from field to finished garment, and transform her entire business. Over the following three years, her own personal revolution becomes the precursor of a much bigger, societal change.

APRIL 21: Repair Café @ Durango Tool Library
Don't despair, repair! Bring your wobbly chairs, torn shirts, shattered phone screens, malfunctioning bicycles, and toasters on-the-blink to the Repair Café. A crew of volunteers will be on-hand to help you diagnose and fix your things.
By connecting people who know how to repair with people who have things that need repair, we can ensure more things are fixed and used, instead of discarded and replaced.
Volunteers will help you troubleshoot your broken thing, and provide a prescription for how it can be repaired. When possible, volunteers will help you make on-site, real-time repairs—and send you home with a fixed thing. For other repairs, like those that require specialized replacement parts, the prescription will guide you through what's needed to repair the item.
@Kiddos and doggos: Bring your sick and wounded stuffed animals to the Stuffed Animal Hospital. Volunteers will be ready to give your stuffed animal special care, like replacing missing stuffing and patching any holes, so you can keep playing with your stuffie.
There is no fee for participating in this event, but there will be local coffee cart and drink vendors onsite offering yummy beverages for purchase. Get a drink for you and, perhaps, for a volunteer? It is a repair "café" after all! Come enjoy a refreshment while repairing and learning.
When: Sunday, April 21st from 10am - 2pm.
Where: Durango Tool Library, 278 Sawyer Drive, Unit 4A.
How to participate:
-
To attend and get your things fixed: No sign up required. No fees to participate. Come on Sunday, April 21st and bring one thing to be repaired.
