Both activities will empower community members to make a positive impact on our landscapes as well as our watersheds! Participants will get a chance to get their hands dirty with seed cookies and take a dip in the river to collect and observe aquatic insects that live on the bottom of our rivers.

April 25: The Moral Crisis of our Time: How Faith-based Communities Are Addressing Climate Change
Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Durango (UUFD) 7-8:30pm
Climate change is a moral issue and faith-based communities can guide us in this transition. Religious leaders from several of our faith-based institutions will talk about how they view their role vis a vis the earth and climate change. Hosted by Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Durango (UUFD).
April 26, 6pm, movie followed by discussion. Free.
This one-hour movie inspired by the activism of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. “The way out is in,” he states. “The way out of climate change is inside each of us.” His invitation is to stop: to stop running and to take a good look at what is really going on. To see what views drive our behavior, how our thought patterns and our emotions work, and why we got into trouble with the climate in the first place. In silence, we will better understand ourselves and the Earth.
This film, "The Way Out," follows two young people, a Brazilian banker and a British activist, during a stressful period in their lives and explores how their inside work reflects into the world.

A documentary about a business inspired to reverse climate change. Free. Durango Public Library. Hosted by Durango Chapter of Citizens' Climate Lobby/Education.
Don't despair, repair! Bring your wobbly chairs, torn shirts, shattered phone screens, malfunctioning bicycles, and toasters on-the-blink to the Repair Café. A crew of volunteers will be on-hand to help you diagnose and fix your things.
By connecting people who know how to repair with people who have things that need repair, we can ensure more things are fixed and used, instead of discarded and replaced.
Volunteers will help you troubleshoot your broken thing, and provide a prescription for how it can be repaired. When possible, volunteers will help you make on-site, real-time repairs—and send you home with a fixed thing. For other repairs, like those that require specialized replacement parts, the prescription will guide you through what's needed to repair the item.
@Kiddos and doggos: Bring your sick and wounded stuffed animals to the Stuffed Animal Hospital. Volunteers will be ready to give your stuffed animal special care, like replacing missing stuffing and patching any holes, so you can keep playing with your stuffie.
There is no fee for participating in this event, but there will be local coffee cart and drink vendors onsite offering yummy beverages for purchase. Get a drink for you and, perhaps, for a volunteer? It is a repair "café" after all! Come enjoy a refreshment while repairing and learning.
When: Sunday, April 20th from 10am - 2pm.
Where: Durango Tool Library, 278 Sawyer Drive, Unit 4A.
How to participate:
-
To attend and get your things fixed: No sign up required. No fees to participate. Come on Sunday, April 20th and bring one thing to be repaired.
-
To volunteer and help fix things: Volunteers are needed to staff repair stations. If you are interested in helping, please reach out to librarian@durangotoollibrary.com.
